Since London?s successful bid seven years ago, the world has been counting down to this day and, as the last of the teams move into official accommodation, it is beginning to dawn that the Olympics are about to begin. 

Yesterday Olympic legend Usain Bolt 1 en route to the Athletes? Village. 

The Jamaican sprinter left fans hoping he would replicate his Beijing performances of 2008\.

For those already in the Athletes? Village, Wednesday?s Opening Ceremony rehearsal thrilled competitors. 

Australian diver Melissa Wu looked across the Olympic Park from the Athletes? Village,1 lit up below the ongoing fireworks.
