1InterContinental Hotels Group kicks off the year with a strong showing with stocks rising 4.4 percent to hit at an all-time high after Barclays upgraded the company to “overweight” from “equal-weight”.

Barclays sees IHG as the best sector play on a potential rebound in US growth as well as potential tax cuts.
