SWISS names new Head of Alliances and Commercial Relations

Swiss International Air Lines has appointed Urs Weiss as its new Head of Alliances & Commercial Relations. Weiss, who is 48, is currently the airline?s Head of Global Key Accounts & Business Sales Switzerland. In his new capacity he succeeds Alain Chisari, who moved to Edelweiss Air last month to become Chief Commercial Officer at SWISS?s sister carrier.

Urs Weiss will take up his new SWISS duties as Head of Alliances & Commercial Relations on 1 January 2014. In his new capacity he will bear overall responsibility for all of the airline?s alliance and joint-venture agreements, as well as all its commercial interline and codeshare accords.

Weiss, who is 48, will bring extensive company experience and air transport expertise to his new position. He originally joined the Passenger Services department of the then Swissair back in 1983. He went on to hold numerous commercial executive functions at SWISS?s predecessor, including Key Account Manager Leisure Sales.

Urs Weiss has also served in various commercial management capacities for SWISS, including General Manager Direct Sales Strategy & Policy and Head of Revenue Management, Pricing & Distribution Switzerland. He was appointed to his present position as Head of Global Key Accounts & Business Sales Switzerland in January 2011.
