Chien named GM of Jumeirah hotel in Shanghai

Shanghai, China – 23 May 2017 – 
Jumeirah Group appoints Winston Chien as general manager at Jumeirah Himalayas Hotel, a landmark property set in Shanghai’s Pudong District.

1Chien was previously vice president, China, at Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group Asia Pacific. Prior to this he worked as assistant general manager at Hong Kong Resort International. From 2008-2010 he worked for Jumeirah in the Jumeirah Group China representation office.

In his new role, is responsible for running the Jumeirah Himalayas Hotel, which offers 393 rooms, 45 suites and a Presidential Suite. The property is located within the wider Himalayas Centre which includes a shopping mall, art museum and theatre.

Chien brings a wealth of experience from his 34 year career in the luxury hospitality business which includes 24 years with Hilton. He began his career at the Kahala Hilton, Hawaii and then worked at the Guam Hilton in the Mariana Islands.

Subsequent roles included resident manager at Hilton Shanghai and general manager at Hilton Shenzhen. He was also part of the pre-opening team at Tokyo Bay Hilton, Japan.

Jumeirah Group currently operates 21 hotels in nine destinations across the Middle East, Europe and Asia. Jumeirah has eight hotel management agreements in place in China, with Jumeirah Nanjing is set to open in late 2017.
