Marriott champions diversity

Marriott International continues its commitment to diversity and inclusion through its support of three of its diversity and inclusion partners – the National Urban League Young Professionals (NULYP), the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and the National Association of Black Hotel Owners, Operators & Developers (NABHOOD).
Marriott supports NULYP throughout the year with their summits and professional development programmes. This year, The NULYPs recognised Marriott with its Corporate Circle Award, which honours companies that demonstrate above and beyond commitment and engagement with the organization.
NULYP is a National Urban League volunteer auxiliary that targets young professionals aged between 21 and 40 to empower their communities and change lives through the Urban League Movement.
Meanwhile, Maruiel Perkins-Chavis, the company’s vice president, workforce engagement & global diversity, gave greetings on behalf of Marriott International at the NAACP Annual Conference’s Clarence Mitchell Luncheon. The mission of NAACP is to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of all people.
And Julius Robinson, vice president of the Autograph Collection Hotels, and Erica Qualls-Battey, general manager of the Atlanta Marriott Marquis, represented Marriott during the annual NABHOOD conference as panel participants discussing hotel development, industry leadership and innovation.
NABHOOD’s goal is to increase the number of African Americans developing, managing, operating and owning hotels and increase vendor opportunities and executive level jobs for minorities.
