Royal Caribbean International will sail its first Black Sea cruises in summer 2015, including visiting Sochi, Russia.
The cruise line is moving its 1,998-passenger Rhapsody of the Seas from Alaska for the new itineraries. The Vision-class ship will do three round-trip 10- and 11-day sailings from Istanbul beginning in June.
The Rhapsody will make maiden calls in Sochi; Burgas, Bulgaria; Odessa, Yalta and Sevastapol, Ukraine ? with overnight stays in Sochi, Odessa and Istanbul.
From July to November, the Rhapsody will cruise on 7- to 11-day itineraries from Rome.
Meanwhile, Royal will deploy two Radiance-class ships to cruise Alaska for the 2015 summer season ? the cruise line’s 26th year in the 49th State.
The 2,100-passenger Radiance of the Seas will return to Alaska, where it will also cruise this summer. New in the market will be sister ship Jewel of the Seas.
The Radiance-class ships are noteworthy for their expanses of glass. The addition of the Jewel also brings Royal Caribbean more oceanview and balcony cabins in the Alaska market.
