Mauritius – 31 August 2017 –
Sun Resorts’ fine hideaway on Mauritius, La Pirogue, reopened its doors after the complete renovation of its rooms in boho-chic style and of the common areas. As from now, new bars, restaurants and a brand new lobby welcome the new guests of the hotel.

La Pirogue added a touch of modernity while preserving the original architecture of its bungalows. Virginie Koenig of VK Design was in charge of the project and created the decor of the new rooms with a combination of organic, colourful, detailed folk-inspired pieces with modern design using a large degree of sustainable material. The famous architect Alistair Macbeth and the Contract Manager, Errol Stein, took care of the public areas and restaurants.

La Pirogue offers a new culinary offer with Wolmar, the main restaurant, Magenta Seafood restaurant, Coconut Café and also the three restaurants of Sugar Beach. For Andrew Slome, the General Manager, “It is the beginning of another chapter in the legacy of one of the most iconic hotels the Mauritius hotel industry has to offer and remains a tribute to the efforts of its over 450 employees.”

Sun Resorts is part of the Sun Limited ‘Hotel Management’ Cluster.  It owns and manages four hotels in Mauritius (La Pirogue, Sugar Beach, Long Beach, Ambre) and the iconic Ile aux Cerfs a leisure island on which is nestled a championship golf course designed by Bernhard Langer. In the Maldives, Sun owns and operates the Kanuhura Maldives a member of Leading Hotels of the World luxury collection.
