The pressure on PMS-provider rises – Missing interfaces prevent the digitalization within the hospitality industry

Hanover/Munich, Germany – 3 May 2017 –
1You don’t have to be psychic to know why renowned PMS-delivery claims within the hospitality industry are being ignored. Two way interfaces to booking portals are not yet internationally favored by all hotel chains, therefore their programming remains secondary. But exactly these missing interfaces are causing the German hospitality sector to fall behind in terms of digitalization. Felix Undeutsch, Head of MICE at Expedia MeetingMarket, and Bernd Fritzges, spokesman of the board of the German Veranstaltungsplaner.de association, indicated such in their interview with HOTELIER TV & RADIO.

Up to now only two PMS-provider, Bankettprofi and Citadel, have shown dedication towards this new technology trend. At least Protel has a one way interface, states Undeutsch. Whereas other renowned PMS-provider are lacking action when it comes to interfaces to booking platforms for conference rooms. In comparison to the PMS dependent hospitality industry, event location operators can work more freely due to their easier and more open administration systems.

Fritzges summarizes: “Also event locations have the urge and wish for direct bookings and process optimization. Therefore, I am not astonished if agile software companies and provider will dictate the speed within the event location area and at the end the hospitality industry will only get the connecting train…”
